Model Bird
I need an idea for a science project…I’m making a bird what should I make it out of?
I want to make a model of a kakapo bird, what should I use?
You could use leaves and husks from a corn on the cob. Form the bird with the fresh leaves and use natural string to tie it together. Once it has dried you can add embellishments.
or
You could carve it out of a potato and then spray paint it and then cover in shellac.
or
you could make your own clay by mixing:
Materials needed:
• 1 cup of cornstarch
• 2 tablespoons of baking soda
• 1 tablespoon of Rit’s liquid dye
• 1 tablespoon corn oil
Procedures:
1. Put dry ingredients in a large pan, then add the liquid ingredients.
2. Put on medium heat, stirring constantly for 10 minutes until it looks like mashed potatoes.
3. Place on glass plate and cover with a damp towel until cool.
4. Now you are ready to mold asn shape you clay!
5. Allow your creation to air dry until rock hard then coat with a clear acrylic spray after painting.
or
1 cup flour
3/4 cup salt
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup cooking oil
Food coloring
What to do:
Place the flour, salt and oil in a mixing bowl and stir with a wooden spoon.
Combine water and food coloring then gradually add the colored water to the flour mixture.
When you have created things with the clay, you can bake them to harden the clay. Put the oven on low heat (300؛F/150؛C) and bake for 1-2 hours.
The second one is easier to make.
