Rare Bird let free, now what to do?
My father is a succesfull buisness man, he started out with real estate but now that he has money he bought a small zoo in central park. He was allowed to take home this very rare parot which he keeps in our house in Greenich villiage. The thing is my best friend is an animal rights activist and he is about to do something bad to my father. So I do the logical thing, let the poor bird free and save my father from a bad day. Next thing you know my friend is even more angry with me because he says the bird will “Unbalance the natural urban eco system”. So now I dont know what to do, any suggestions?
I already let him go, that answer did not help. Need advice on how to now deal with friend
If it is a very rare parrot, you need to get it back. Enlist the help of the media – see if a local television station is willing to do a feature on the bird and ask their viewers to be on the lookout for it. Offer a reward for its safe return. You do not have to tell them how the bird got loose, jus that an unfortunate incident while the cage was open lead to his escape.
Your father will probably be held legally and financially responsible to the zoo to replace the bird.
The parrot does not have a very good chance of surviving in an urban setting. It has no way of finding food or recognizing and avoiding predators. What you did was extremely thoughtless and irresponsible. I hope you can fix things before the bird is killed, and your father has to pay for your mistake.
