Bird Carrier Cage
Really stinky cage?????????????????????????????????????????????
I have two 5 week old baby rats. They are in a small cage from petco ( http://www.petco.com/product/11496/PETCO-Small-Animal-and-Bird-Carriers.aspx?CoreCat=LN_Shopping_SmallAnimalSupplies_ShopAll_Carriers ) But it is temporary. Because they are being quarantined until I introduce them to my 1-2 years old rattie.I put a little towel over it to keep them warm because my room is pretty chilly. For bedding I put in paper towels and a little rag. They have a water bottle hung up and Lab Blocks by the brand Kaytee. They poop EVERYWHERE and it stinks SO bad. I have to clean it everyday. Also, Im going out of town tomorrow till friday, and I don’t want them to have to live in that stinkiness for more then a day… im a afraid it could hurt them,… what do I do? I have carefresh… would that help?
What do you put on your other rats floor? I am not sure why you are just lining it with paper towels. Try using carefresh or aspen on the floor. Also that cage is just to small, even for just two weeks as a quarantine cage. I have three six week old girl rats in a 10 gallon with topper until their new cage arrives and it is getting to small. I cannot wait for the new cage. Try lining the floor of the cage with something more absorbent. This will not only draw the urine away from them so they are not sitting in it but will help keep the smell down.
