Does anyone here raise geese or swans?
I am curious about the possible success of starting a fowl farm adventure. I know that the avian flu is on the rise, and this may be a foolish idea. Just wondering if anyone here does this or knows of such people. I have 2 young geese about 9-10 weeks old and they are so wonderful to be around!
geese and swans are allot of work with a high expense. You need a large water source as their body structure only allows them to breed on water. You need some cover of sort above as chicks are eagerly grabbed by owls and hawks. Fencing around as skunks opossums and fox love swan. As for the market, don’t look to make more then 2k to 3k off a pair a year. Black neck swans, and black swans have a decent market. Geese are much easier as you can build your own small pond.
