i dont know bout you, but do you agree with this statement?
ok, i think that writing is free expression. and there is all of this talk about banning and challenging books. why is the goverment deciding what we can read or not? im all about freedom. but books like “to kill a mockingbird” by harper lee and “i know why the caged bird sings” by maya angelou getting banned because of racism. as well as “the adventures of huckleberry finn” by mark twain. and “how to eat fried worms” because its ‘too disgusting for young kids’. and theres a whole bunch of other ridiculous ones if you google or yahoo in ‘banned books’.
i think its kinda interesting, but i dont think books should be banned. its ruining the authors and the editors. and free expression should and is shown in books, offensive or not. i write and some of my essays have cursing and offensive things because im writing from my heart. and authors should be able to do this.
but do you agree with me?
I am always against the banning of books, but do agree that in some stores there should be (and usually are) “Adult sections” or portions of the store otherwise set aside for more adult fare.
Never should a book be banned however, even if it may lead to better sales for some. (lol) Banning of books always goes way too far, with somebody who knows nothing of a subject campaigning for the banning of a book because it has pawprints on it. That’s just an example, but I agree with you, and have done so for many a long year… yet PTAs and some church groups and other people who consider themselves to be civic-minded will always think otherwise.
To get right down to it, there are trash and gems on the banned books list, and they should be allowed to fall or rise on their own.
